EXECUTIVE CHEF & FOUNDER
Chef Julian Alexander didn't arrive at the sushi counter through a conventional path. He arrived through saltwater, surfboards, & a relentless curiosity about flavor.
Born in South Florida & drawn west by the ocean, Julian relocated to Santa Cruz, California, in pursuit of professional surfing. This dream shaped his discipline, eye for timing, & deep respect for the natural world. When the trajectory of professional surf competition shifted, the ocean remained. And so did the drive to create something extraordinary.
He picked up his first knife in a Japanese restaurant in Boca Raton, & never put it down. Over the next fourteen years, Julian sharpened both his blades & philosophy. This foundation built a culinary voice rooted in traditional Edo-style sushi technique, elevated by the coastal flavors of his adopted home in Southern California, while being enriched by the layered influences of French & Peruvian cuisine.

Sirius Sushi is the casual catering arm of the Surf Safer Enterprises culinary family. We bring the same Michelin-caliber sourcing & Japanese precision of our fine dining brand, Oceanside Omakase, directly to your party, wedding, or corporate table.

LOCAL & WILD CAUGHT
We source directly from Santa Barbara Harbor fishermen. Our rock crab, halibut, sea bass, sea urchin, & seasonal catches are always processed using traditional ike-jime techniques for peak freshness + texture.
Local first, always.
KYUSHU - HOKKAIDO - TOKYO
JAPANESE IMPORTS
For species unavailable locally, we work exclusively with Michelin-caliber Japanese wholesaler. These same distributors supply the finest restaurants in Southern California. Hon Hamachi from Kyushu. Wild Bluefin from the Pacific line. Nothing second-tier reaches our cutting board.
NEW ZEALAND - PACIFIC NORTHWEST
RESPONSIBLY FARMED
When we utilize farmed fish, we choose operations that have earned trust like Ora King Salmon from the glacial rivers of New Zealand's Southern Alps. Recognized each year as a "Best Choice" by the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program. Quality & conscience are not in conflict.
Every piece of fish we serve at a Sirius Sushi event is sourced from the same distributors & fishermen we use at Oceanside Omakase, our fine dining brand. The format is casual. Our standard is not.
The produce is organically focused as well like our Japanese cucumber, Organic Nori, heritage-breed garnishes, & locally foraged seasonal accents. The rice is prepared in small batches with imported Japanese short-grain. Your experience is genuine & even the wasabi is real
